Monte Plata province is located in the central/eastern portion of the island and carries with it a long, complex history of cacao production. We are fortunate to have access to this cacao through Rizek Cacao, a grower and producer of sustainable and ethically produced cacao in the Dominican Republic. They work with thousands of small (2.5 hectar on average) farms and assist with training, fermentation and distribution - making direct trade cacao accessible for our small operation. You’ll find a rich, complex, earthy and fudgy flavor profile in this bar. Like all Eigen Chocolates this bar is made with ethically traded cacao, sugar certified by the regenerative organic alliance, and compostable packaging.

This chocolate is gluten, dairy and soy free but all of our products are produced in a facility that handles dairy, tree nuts, peanuts, and soy.
